The Green Party of NYS today offered a number of alternatives to resolve the state's fiscal crisis, calling for a state budget that improves the future of all New Yorkers, rather than reacting out of fear of a budget shortfall.

Declaring health care to be a human right, hundreds of advocates for a single-payer, Medicare-for-All health program will protest at 18 senators' offices around the country on Dec. 10, International Human Rights Day. Many will risk arrest by committing acts of civil disobedience.

The Green Party of Pennsylvania (GPPA, a href="http://www.gpofpa.org/" target="_blank"www.gpofpa.org//a) will meet on Saturday, May 19, from 10 am to 4 pm, at Days Inn Penn State on 240 Pugh St. in State College , PA. The main purpose of this meeting is to announce the results a series of caucuses held throughout the state. From the Buzz Cafe in Philadelphia to Citizen Power in Pittsburgh , Greenline Paper in York , Borough buildings. libraries, cafes, restaurants and hotels in Swarthmore, La Plume, Bethlehem , Lansdale, Reading , Wilkes-Barre , Lancaster and Honesdale were meeting places for Greens to discuss and declare their preferences for a Presidential candidate.

Green Party candidates and leaders said today that Americans should learn something about democracy and change from voters in Greece and France, as well as Iceland, in recent elections that overturned their respective governments.

The Maine Green Independent Party held its annual convention this past weekend at the Maine Historical Society in downtown Portland. The convention selected Jill Stein of Massachusetts as its preferred Presidential candidate by a narrow margin in a vote of 17 to 14, with Roseanne Barr a close second. Maine Delegates to the Green Party's National Convention in Baltimore in July will carry the vote proportionally.

A New York City author whose book and documentary film No Impact Man helped bring climate change into popular consciousness today announces his candidacy for the United States House of Representatives. Colin Beavan PhD will run on the Green Party ticket in New York's 8th Congressional District, following the vacancy left by the retirement of Representative Edolphus Towns.

The Green Party of Pennsylvania (GPPA, a href="http://www.gpofpa.org" target="_blank"http://www.gpofpa.org/a) objects to Gov. Corbett's recent announcement of corporate welfare at the same time he is eliminating financial assistance for disabled Pennsylvanians. GPPA Chair Carl Romanelli of Wilkes-Barre responded to this announcement by recommending that "Corbett get down off his high horse and put that $30 million back into General Assistance, where it is needed."

The Green Party of NY State questioned President Obama's campaign swing through Albany, NY today, asking the President "where are the jobs?" With the U-6 unemployment rate, a fairer measure of unemployed and discouraged workers, at 14.3% in New York State, the Green Party believes President Obama's economic plans have after three years proven to be bankrupt.

Plans are being finalized for the Seventeenth Annual Meeting of the Georgia Green Party, scheduled for Saturday, June 2nd, 2012. State Party officers announced their intention to publish the legal notice necessary to permit the Party to nominate candidates in this year's partisan races for public office.
